Villa in Emirates Hills
Emirates Hills, Dubai · 2012
The villa was aseptic: neutral colours, nothing that belonged to anyone. My work here was the furniture, the palette, the division of the spaces and the choice of materials. The client wanted the formal living room to open onto the pool — doors and windows that connect inside and out, which in a Dubai summer above forty degrees is not obvious.
Cream marble floors run from the entrance gallery through the house, framed in dark timber; the living rooms open to the courtyard pool through full-height folding glass walls, onto a hardwood deck. In the master bedroom, a full wall of upholstered panelling stands in for the headboard.
