Duplex on Boulevard Saint-Germain
Paris · 2017
Two large apartments in a Haussmann building in the 7th arrondissement, to be joined, with two bathrooms between them — the wc on one side, the shower on the other. The Architecte des Bâtiments de France protected the boiseries, the moulded ceilings and the existing fireplaces: none of it could be touched. I gave every bedroom its own bathroom and put a kitchen on each floor, and the client accepted the ducted air conditioning that made the whole thing possible — a retail-scale installation inside a historic building with old and limited services, done with specialist engineers.
Rimadesio, Baxter, B&B Italia, Cassina, Moroso, Twils, Giorgetti, Living Divani and Knoll for the furniture; Flos, Davide Groppi and Italamp for the lighting; Domenico Mori tiles, Rubelli curtains, Elitis wallpaper, Italian marble, CP parquet and a Glas Italia glass partition in the bathroom. The joinery is my father's.
